Learn culinary arts and culinary management
The International Culinary Schools at the Art Institutes offers training in the fundamentals of culinary science, tools, and equipment while students learn about cuisines of the world. The curriculum is supported by other professionals and culinary chefs from the industry wherein the student is exposed to a wide range of international recipes and culinary skills that enable him to broaden his knowledge of culinary topics through opportunities to study in other countries, guest lectures, student-run restaurants, and practical internships. The culinary program is offered at more than thirty locations.
Associate of Science in Culinary Arts
Top culinary arts professionals can take their successful careers to an even higher level. They are trained to become restaurant managers, cater special occasions, become personal chefs, and more. For many graduates, the ultimate goal is to own their own restaurant – a place that will reflect their own culinary passions and where they can share their own style and personal panache with the world. The International Culinary School at the Art Institute offers an Associate of Science degree in Culinary Arts that is directed at individuals like these in mind.
The culinary arts program teaches basic culinary skills and progresses to more complicated food service concepts, such as garnishes and presentation. Students are introduced to specialty produce and products, along with baking and pastry art skills and techniques, while participating in hands-on production. The student's knowledge of the culinary world is completed through International, Classical French, North American, and Asian regional cuisine courses.
Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management
The International Culinary School at the Art Institutes offers the opportunity to learn hands-on culinary management skills with the Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management degree program. Faculty focus on ordering ingredients, marketing, quality control, training, staff management, and cost control, along with fundamental cooking skills.
The Chef's Gallery, which is open to the public, allows students to experience real-life situations in a full-service dining lab. Classical cooking techniques used in most commercial operations are also highlighted.
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management degree program, students will be well equipped to obtain a variety of entry-level positions such as management trainee, kitchen manager, banquet supervisor, or assistant food and beverage director.
