The curriculum combines the Art of Hospitality (service, culinary arts, design, concept development and creativity) with the Science of Management (marketing, human resources, operations, technology, and financial and strategic management) in a perfect integration of the practical with the aesthetic aspects of the program. When you enroll in the hospitality management program, you earn knowledge in the operational elements of the hospitality industry, using practice-based realistic exercises and computer-based simulations designed to take you in the aesthetics, culture and customer focus of hospitality, to develop your poise and confidence through individual accomplishment and teamwork. This experience will provide you with the skills and detail orientation to manage future employees who will use these skills daily, and to let you understand more fully the quality of working life issues your future employees will raise. You will learn the fundamentals of culinary arts, food and beverage service, purchasing, receiving and storing, reception, housekeeping, and engineering in the College’s state-of-the-art kitchens, award-winning dining room open to the public, computer facilities and unique Hyatt Hotel Suite, using the newly renovated Riverworks campus as your living laboratory. Meanwhile, you will also train the critical thinking and decision-making skills of the future manager, learning to appreciate quality and create value propositions.

A sector of the hospitality field which offers many diverse career options is the foodservice industry. Food service operations consists of noncommercial and commercial business, which is expected to offer food and beverage industry a range of settings including hospitals, universities, schools, catering companies, national parks, casinos, hotels, restaurants and exhibits an average yearly growth of 7.6%. You will leave Kendall fully prepared for a management career in restaurants, institutional food service, catering, and food service consulting.
