Top 10 Tips for Taking Perfect Food Photos

by Nicki on January 25, 2011

Food bloggers everywhere – amateur or pro – chef extraordinaire or aficionado – Endless Simmer had New York Times food photographer Lou Manna share his top tips on how to take mouth-watering photos:

  1. Get a Fork’s Eye View
  2. Clean Your Plate
  3. Crack the ISO Code
  4. Balance Your Whites
  5. Macro Say Cheese
  6. Steady Hands, Steady Plates
  7. Limit Your Ingredients
  8. Don’t Flash Your Guests
  9. Repurpose Your Shower Curtain
  10. Get Creative With Color!

But in my opinion, he left one out – Remember to control thyself! All the painstaking work you put into that breathtaking, picture perfect soufflĂ© won’t mean much if you’ve already taken a bite out of it!

Great tips–but what if I really want to flash my guests? :)
