6 Cooking Terms Every Cook Should Know

Let’s take a moment to brush up on our cooking knowledge, shall we? Here are 6 common cooking terms that you should know:

Sauté: Briefly cook food with a little oil or butter in a frying pan.
Julienne: Cut food into tiny, matchstick-like pieces.
Braise: Brown food by sautéing, then cook slowly in a covered pot with a little liquid.
Dice: Cut food into miniature cubes.
Broil: Cook food at high heat and in close proximity to the heat source, such as in an oven or a barbeque.
Scald: Heat liquid (most often milk) to just shy of the boiling point.
